Dear Members,
I’m very sorry to share that Laz, a former Chair of GSTC, has passed away following a long illness.
Laz served as Chair for almost 10 years and played a huge role in shaping the club many of us enjoy today. He was known for how welcoming he was to new members and for the sense of community he helped build.
I’m personally very grateful to Laz for backing me early on and giving me the opportunity to get properly involved in the club and committee. He always led with warmth and enthusiasm and set a strong example for others. His impact on the club, and on many of us personally, has been significant.
In recognition, our annual club doubles tournament, now in its fifth year, will be renamed the Laz Irvine Cup in his honour.
He will be missed by many at the club, as well as by his friends and family.
Our thoughts are with them at this time.
